Audient Zen Analog Mixing console

At the center of  the studio is the Zen, a 16 channel fully automated console. This little beauty comes loaded with 16 pristine microphone pre-amps that faithfully reproduce any signal we lovingly pour into it. From there the signal has a number of routing options; to the 16 flying faders, stereo and mono buses, and four auxiliary sends, with a total of 32 channel returns in all. The mix bus is fully analog and crystal clear, leaving a rich and punchy bottom end, and plenty of air so that every mix has (excuse the pun) room to breathe. The Zen also comes loaded with a SSL style VCA bus compressor to give the mix that extra punch we all like!

Speck Audio X Sum

An additional  32 channels of analog summing is provided by the Speck Audio X Sum. This unit has a pristine signal path with high headroom to reproduce your audio as honestly and clearly as possible.

Pro Tools Ultimate

Recording duties are covered by an Avid HD Native rig and the DAW we all love... Pro Tools. There's a reason why practically every studio and hit record the world over have used this setup for at least the last decade, it's versatile, a pleasure to use, and it sounds fantastic! If you're going to put endless hours into writing your music, its only fair that we record and mix it with the best of the best.

Lynx Aurora Convertors

One of the more critical steps in the signal chain is the AD/DA conversion. The Lynx Aurora is industry renowned, and installed into many of the best studios on the planet. They're one of the most transparent convertors in production, and absolutely excel whether it be for tracking or mixing. We've gotta get in and out of the computer somehow! (RME and Digidesign Conversion also available).

Gem Audio Perceptor Model-T Compressor

A vital piece of audio equipment that the digital realm is yet to emulate faithfully is the compressor. Maestro Sound Productions has a diverse palate of outboard gear to assure your recordings sound their best. First compressor off the block is the Preceptor-T. This is a VCA design based around zener diodes in a similar style to the famed Abbey Road compressor. This is the 'Transparent' model geared towards mastering and mix bus duties, but it has loads of attitude if you need it. It's surgical in its precision, and sounds larger than life!

Crane Song STC-8 Class A Compressor

There are few designers who so masterfully tread the fine line between transparency and musicality as Dave Hill from Crane Song. And the STC-8 is no exception. Hill managed to eliminate all the traditional gain reduction elements from this design, such as VCAs and opto cells, and instead utilizes Pulse Width Modulation for dynamic control. This unique approach allows for a Class A signal path throughout the unit, and extremely low distortion. And baby does she purr!

Sontec Mastering EQ - Custom Built

The lauded Sontec EQ design is adored by Mastering and Mix Engineers alike. Its focused tone, ripping bottom end, and a silky top end have shaped records for decades. Our unit has been custom built to fit our needs with 0.01% stereo accuracy, and a class A discrete output. Turn it up!

TFPro P8 Edward the Compressor

Meet Edward, the P8, a design by Ted Fletcher of 'Joe Meek' fame. This is a redesign of his beloved SC2, an iconic piece of kit that has featured on countless hit records. This incarnation can be set to copy the dynamic envelope of some the most sought after compressors of all time, namely the 1176, and the LA2A. This bad boy sounds fantastic on anything from vocals, to drums, to guitars, and everything in between! Eddy! Maaaaate!

SSL G Series Bus Compressor

This bad boy has being gluing mixes together for decades. A design based around the renowned DBX 202c VCA, The SSL is as punchy as Mike Tyson, as sweet as cotton candy, and as much a musical instrument as the sounds that pass through it. What better choice is there to put that hifi sheen over a mix?!?

Drawmer 1968 MkII Compressor

This modern incarnation of the revered Drawmer 1960, is all its predecessor was and more. The design is based around a FET compression circuit and a tube gain stage; which gives this beastie plenty of zing while keeping that much sought after gooeyness present in a lot of vintage gear. This guy is absolutely stellar on the Drum Bus, and sounds great on guitars!

Distressor EL8 Compressor

Arguably the most famous and sought after piece of modern audio gear, the Distressor is the 'Swiss Army Knife' of compressors. A fully analog signal path provides the lush creaminess of the more esoteric compressor designs, but what sets this little fella apart, is the way it manipulates the sidechain. The secret to the immense versatility of this unit is the fact that it's digitally controlled, and this opens a rich palate of tonal and envelope shaping options. There's nothing better to give a signal that in-your-face presence required for modern records. Breathtaking on pretty much everything.

Teletronix LA2a

A classic Opto style tube compressor that has all the warmth and fuzziness you could ever wish for. It's simple to use, but always yields fantastic results and has been heard on countless recordings since the early 60's. Gravy on vocals and bass guitars!

 1176 Limiting Amplifier

Possibly the most famous compressor design in history, the 1176 is an amazing sounding unit with plenty of punch and grit for the more dynamic instruments, and some tasty iron to sweeten any signal, even when it's in bypass mode. An absolute dream on kick drums, snares, guitars, and rock vocals. Impossibly, it's both viscous and gentle at once!

CBS Audimax III

This hard to find and unique vintage unit from CBS is a classic. It's more of a leveler than a compressor, but is used to similar effect. Originally used in radio stations to maximize the volume before going to air, this old lad has loads of character and old school vibe. Fantastic on bass, and an industry secret for that 90's vocal sound!

Federal AM-864/u

The Federal is an oldie but a goldie, think circa WW2! But since then it has been a closely guarded secret of many world class engineers. This is a Vari-Mu compressor, so its tube throughout, and lush as anything you'll hear. For some vintage gooeyness and a beefy bottom end, it's hard to beat this monster!

TL Audio 2021 Stereo Tube Compressor

This unassuming little scamp has a sound that punches well above its weight, and can transform the most modest of signals into something explosive. With low ratio settings it's great to emulate the gentle tickling of tape saturation, but when cranked it threatens to dislodge drivers from speaker cabinets. Compressors have a nasty habit of munching the low end sometimes, but this unit leaves it nicely intact. Great on drum subgroups and bass guitar!

 DBX 160 vu VCA Compressor

DBX are the pioneers of the VCA design, and this was one of the earliest balanced units that they produced. An RMS sidechain makes for musical gain control, and a savagely hard knee gives you punch for days! Excels on drums and bass guitars.

 Focusrite Platnium Penta Opto Compressor

Focusrite have released some fantastic gear over the years and this unit is no exception. The Penta uses an opto activated side chain to control dynamics and does so without mauling the bottom end. It's magical at moderate settings adding clarity and depth while flattening out the volume with lightening quick attack speeds. Its beautiful on drums!

Dual DBX 163

This is a classic vintage compressor with a filthy attitude, it's definitely the A.D.D. child of the bunch. This makes even the most tame of signals explosive, adding warmth and a pleasing distortion. A single slider controls whether you want 'Less' or 'More' making it extremely simple to use. Nice and creamy on bass guitar, and does something magic to drums!

SPL Transient Designer

The Transient Designer isn't a compressor in the conventional sense. Instead of dynamically attenuating a signal it gives precise control over the Attack and Sustain, all while adding some silky VCA yumminess to your tracks. If you're after the punchy sound of modern drums, look no further than this animal. Skank!

TL Audio  5051 Channel Strip

The Swiss army knife of the family comes loaded with everything you'd want to process an audio signal. There is a beautiful tube EQ section with shelving, a gate, and a fantastic tube compressor with an addictive rhythm. A versatile little beastie that can breathe life into the most digitized signal. Great for vocals, guitars, and does something uncanny to bass drums...

Black Lion Audio AM/CHA 1 EQ

We all love our inductor based EQ's and those in the know would kill and maim to get their hands on an original Pultec. This is Black Lion Audio's take on the design and it is simply magical. You can add seemingly endless top end without things getting harsh, and sculpt any signal until you start hearing back what's in your head. Amazing on everything, even entire mixes!

Orban EQ 642-B

The Orban is a vintage EQ unit with surgical precision and loads of character. A perfect example of why vintage gear is so sought after... All discrete components and a beautiful clean sound. You can dial in nearly endless bottom end with this baby without degrading the signal. Fantastic on guitars and pianos.

Dual JLM Audio LA500

Joe Malone designs some fantastic gear, and this piece is no exception. This is his take on the La3 style opto compressors, and is a fantastic recreation of that sound. The transformer balanced signal path is reason enough to keep these babies around, but the compression is just beautiful. Clean and musical even at extreme settings. A dream on acoustic instruments such as pianos and acoustic guitars.

Sound Skulptor 5176

This is Sound Skulptor's recreation of the famed 1176 compressor. This little guy has got attitude to boot, and many features that the original 1176 didn't, including a sidechain filter, and a distortion setting. In 'Slam' mode its virtually identical to the Rev F's with all the filth and crunch one could wish for!

Sound Skulptor MP573

The most sought after preamp of all time would indisputably have to be the Neve 1073, a perfect design with a miniscule component count, and a creamy sound that is the bread and butter of the recording industry. Sound Skulptor have lovingly recreated this circuit for the API500 series format, and it doesn't disappoint!

Hairball Audios Lola Mic Pre

Hairball Audio have come up with this unique and elegant circuit that is one of the most adventurous endeavors in modern preamp design. But they definitely got away with it! This is an amazing sounding pre that works fantastically on most sources.

 TC Electronics M-One XL

On reverb duties is this versatile little number, the M-One is seen in studios and venues the world over and is renowned in the industry. If its space you're after, this is the Millennium Falcon... The force is strong with this one.

Vermona VSR-3

Digital reverbs are fantastically versatile but lack the non-linear yuminess of their analog counterparts. Vermona have diligently answered this need with their range of spring reverberation units. This guy has a huge sound which is both warm at present at once, and is great addition to most signals. Loves guitars!

Yamaha NS-10M

A vital addition to any studio is the monitors, and no one speaker is more at home atop a gratuitously priced SSL mixing console than the NS-10, a studio staple the world over. In no way are they flattering to program material, but if you can get a mix sounding good on these little devils, it'll sound fantastic everywhere else.

Focal Twin6 Be

The French not only make fine wine... These lads pickup where the NS-10's leave off, providing a far fuller spectrum, and a much deeper bottom end, and the sweetest top end around with Focal's patented Beryllium Tweeter. Loads of tone, beautifully rounded, and a pleasure to listen to.

Avantone Active Mixcubes

This is Avantones answer to the Auratones of yesteryear, or as they were more lovingly referred to... the "'Horror'tones." These guys make sure the mix translates to real word systems that are lacking bottom, and top end. Think laptop speakers or old car stereos. Very revealing, sometimes uncomfortably so, but an indispensable tool nonetheless.

Audio Plugins

Digital emulations are simply brilliant these days, and to compliment the analog gear we have a selection of plugins from UAD, Plugin Alliance, Fab Filter, Waves, Slate Audio, along with a slew of others.
